Speaking at a high-level closed-door briefing in Paris, General Bellanger confirmed what many intelligence insiders had suspected since the smoke cleared along the Line of Control — that Indian forces lost three frontline fighters in the May confrontation: a Mirage 2000, a Sukhoi Su-30MKI and, most damagingly, a Rafale.“This is the first time a Rafale has been lost in combat,” Bellanger told French media, an admission that has already triggered a wave of uncomfortable questions from the eight nations operating the type.
